Please absorb this awesome truth! God has been dealing with me on the importance of our minds being renewed, and in that light, I share these words with you.
Renewing the mind is a little like refinishing furniture. It is a two-stage process. It involves taking off the old and replacing it with the new. The old is the lies you have learned to tell or were taught by those around you; it is the attitudes and ideas that have become a part of your thinking but do not reflect reality. The new is the truth. To renew your mind is to involve yourself in the process of allowing God to bring to the surface the lies you have mistakenly accepted and replace them with truth. To the degree that you do this, your behavior will be transformed.
Charles Stanley
So often, I have run ahead of God, and in my zeal for a transformed mind, layered over the old. May the Lord, in His wisdom and strength and through His anointed word, break all lies apart, piece by piece, giving us a smooth layer on which to build His truth!
Thank you for the extra notes of encouragement left on the last post. We all need encouragement, and your thoughts mean so much to me! I had intended on spending more time on a post, but had a sudden interruption in my plans with a short hospitalization.
I'm doing fine now, and I arrived home this afternoon after a two-day stay, having had some problems with low blood pressure. Thank you for praying, for I know you will! God has everything right in the palm of His mighty hand! HE IS FOREVER FAITHFUL!!!
Much love to all,
God Bless you Andrea.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and praying for your health and well being.

Dear Andrea,
ReplyDeleteI trust you are recovering well, after that hospital stay. God be your portion at this point of your journey.
He is your strength, and your song.
The boundary lines have fallen for you in pleasant places.

ReplyDeleteDear Andrea:
ReplyDeleteYou have been on my heart. Didn't know about your physical condition, but I praise the Lord for your release from hospital and pray your recovery is quick. Short or long, your writing is wonderful. Love the piece by Charles Stanley about furniture. So true!

Andrea,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are home and feeling better:). I really like your message about the Lord renewing us-it speaks to my heart in this season of Lent when I am trying to do away with old ways and renew myself with the Lord's ways!
Blessings,
Kim
Rest. Rest. Rest. YOU are so lovely. I'm praying for you.
ReplyDeleteAndrea,
ReplyDeleteYour post might be shorter than normal, but it was power packed! Oh how we ever need Jesus to make our thoughts new! To bring every lie to the surface so we can replace it with His truth. To take every thought captive, and make it obedient to Christ! It's a constant thing! I will pray for your healing! O LORD, my God, I cryed out to you for help, and you healed me!
Glad you are home, and glad you posted. We missed you!
Love,
Julie
Andrea:

ReplyDeleteAndrea, you are right, we all need encouragement from time to time and I hope yours comes now at this time when you need it. I just got over pneumonia, so I know how it is to get down! Love and prayers.
ReplyDeleteDearest Andrea~
ReplyDelete*hugs and prayers*
dear sister!!!
Love you!!
Many Blessings~ Miss Jen
I have chronic low blood pressure myself. It can be both a blessing (my heart is only 33 to the rest of my 62 yr old body, having not been worked so hard) and a curse (dizziness/fainting).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm so glad you're home. How thoughtful of you to let us all know how you're doing, though I needn't wonder or worry. You are always in such good hands!
Wish I could drop by with some homemade soup, or pie ... Well, just pretend I did.
Hugs,
Kathleen
P.S. I LOVE Charles Stanley. Thanks for sharing such wisdom.
The two stage process of renewal is long and painful. If we desire to be more like Christ and find contentment in God's desire then I will and continue to embrace it. I feel like I'm finishing the first phase of stripping as my new pain is being managed and strength building is coming slowly. God has helped me re-assess priorities and re-assign the little energy and strength he has given for each day. I'm learning to allow the repainting and refinishing process to come in his time.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you have been in the hospital. Praying for you today as you rest in Him.
Glad you are home and pray you will have no recurrence and a full restoration to health.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite scriptures "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" For me that means turn around from unbelief and listening to the lies and get back to faith and trust"
I often listen to Charles Stanley as he is on our London Christian radio.
I pray you are feeling better and that the low blood pressure problem was taken care of. Thank you for reminding me not to get ahead of the Lord.
ReplyDeleteYou can't put new wine in old wineskins.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can't layer over the old.
Gotta start new, don't we?
So glad that your stay at the hospital was a short one and hope your recovery is speedy.
Prayed for you tonight.
Sweet dreams.
Glad you're home; been thinking about you.

Andrea:
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your site - but God indeed lead my steps to come here! Wow! I got a huge Word here including the dove on your link! His promises are SURE!
Your wrote - including the C. Stanley quote:
" The new is the truth.
May the Lord, in His wisdom and strength and through His anointed word, break all lies apart, piece by piece, giving us a smooth layer on which to build His truth!"
For more than 40 years of my life - since I was a little girl - the enemy had told me a lie about myself. Revelation came through Beth Moore's 'Out of the Pit' series video's where God exposed the lie! For years I kept surpressing the lie and adding layers over it = as you said - but it would raise its ugly head. UNTIL God revealed it through that study. But then I asked God, "So now what do I do with it? How do I get past it?"
It was the same answer you give here - "You replace his lies with MY TRUTH."
I followed those words from God and have never looked back. The healing came and so did the Victory because the stronghold of the enemy was replaced with God Himself as my Stronghold of the TRUTH = His Word! I've been sharing it ever since!
I'll be back - here again - I love your site!
